Brand: RA&Sons

RAQUARTZ is a ready-to-use dry-shake concrete hardener. When RAQUARTZ is scattered over fresh concrete ( recommended grade of C30 or above) the quartz aggregate bonds with the concrete to give a strong durable finish, this improves the impact strength and wear resistance necessary for car parks, industrial areas and storage facilities.

Application

RAQUARTZ is applied by the broadcasting method to freshly laid concrete in the hardening phase, meaning it can take a person’s weight (Imprint Test). It is crucial not to leave the concrete to dry too long as the Raquartz will not embed properly in the concrete. Begin by levelling the surface using power or manual floating techniques, ensuring it is free from bleed water. If the surface appears too dry, lightly re-wet it to aid bonding. Evenly broadcast the hardener in two coats—2 to 3.5 kg/m² for the first, then allow it to absorb moisture and use a power float to embed it into the surface. Before applying the second coat at 1.5 to 2 kg/m², check the surface moisture and re-wet it if necessary to ensure proper adhesion. Once applied, power float again to achieve a smooth, uniform finish. Complete the process with the final floating to refine the surface texture. Proper curing is essential to maximize durability—protect the surface from rapid moisture loss by applying a curing compound.

Recommendations

Do not apply RAQUARTZ:

  • When temperatures are below +5°C and over +35°C
  • Unless you are wearing the correct PPE, alkaline causes irritation and burns
