The evening of 26th September 2024 is one we’ll cherish for years to come. The Gozo Business Awards brought together a vibrant mix of innovators, pioneers, and legends from across industries, all gathered to celebrate excellence. The atmosphere was electric, with the energy of the Gozo business community palpable in every conversation, every handshake, and every applause.
Amidst the glitz and glamour of the awards, our team at RA & Sons found ourselves on stage, recognised for our contributions in three distinct areas. Among these, winning the award for Best Thermal Block Insulation R&D Innovation Product of the Year was particularly meaningful. It wasn’t just about the product; it was about the journey—the countless hours of testing, refining, and rethinking how we could make insulation better for our communities. The recognition stood as a tribute to our research and development team’s relentless dedication to push boundaries. It’s a great reminder of how hard work pays off when we believe in an idea strong enough to pursue it, no matter the challenges.
Next up, our commitment to sustainability was celebrated with the Sustainability Trailblazer Award. When our name was announced, the cheers from the audience echoed the shared responsibility we all have towards protecting the environment. This award is as much about us as it is about everyone who values a greener future. It speaks to our belief that business growth and environmental stewardship aren’t mutually exclusive—they are part of the same path we must tread. Our mission towards sustainability, driven by our talented team, is deeply personal for us. We understand that every small step counts, and being honoured for these steps was a powerful moment of validation for all our efforts.
But perhaps the highlight of the night was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Raymond Attard. As Raymond took the stage, you could feel the emotion in the room. Here stood a man whose decades of perseverance and passion have shaped RA & Sons into what it is today. For those of us who have worked alongside him, and indeed for many others in the industry, Raymond has been a pillar of wisdom and leadership. He has been the driving force, the calm in challenging times, and the spark that ignites innovation. Seeing him honoured in this way was more than a proud moment—it was an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the journey we’ve shared under his guidance.
We know that none of this would have been possible without the extraordinary people behind RA & Sons. From the researchers working late into the night to the teams ensuring quality in every brick, every project, this recognition belongs to each one of them. Standing on that stage, there was one thought that kept coming back to us: “This is for our team.” It’s the combined effort, the spirit of collaboration, and the unwavering determination that fuel our successes.
