RAFIL (tal-fil) is a dry-premixed mineral mortar for repointing, grouting, and small repair work on sandstone facades and fired clay components. Formulated with long-curing white lime, hydraulic binders, and graded sands, it incorporates specific additives that enhance workability and adhesion to various substrates.
This mortar is specifically designed for internal and external applications, providing high-value aesthetic finishing that seamlessly integrates with natural stones such as Maltese, Leccese, limestone & sandstone. Its unique coloration ensures compatibility with a wide range of materials, preserving both structural integrity and visual authenticity.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be clean, dry and dust free. Any surface contaminants like grease, oil and efflorescence should be removed in order to promote adhesion.
Preparation And Application
Rafil can be mixed by hand or mechanically using a paddle mixer in a clean bucket with 5 to 6 liters of clean water per 25kg bag. Allow the mixture to stand for 5 minutes, then mix again before application. Always wear eye protection and a dust mask during mixing.
To aid adhesion wet the substrate first and then apply the mortar to a maximun depth of 20mm, if more depth is required build up the mortar in layers. Different textures can be achieved by finishing off with a steel jointing tool, sponge or brush. To enhance stain resistance and water ingress apply two coats of RAPROTEX.
